What The Work Involves
When a volleyball court needs resurfacing
Outdoor volleyball courts are exposed to sun and rain year round, and the coating is the first thing to go. Faded colour, worn texture that leaves the surface slippery, lines that have become hard to see, cracks and water standing on the court after rain all point to a surface that needs resurfacing. Because volleyball involves jumping and landing on the same areas repeatedly, a worn or uneven surface quickly becomes a safety issue.
Preparation and surface repairs
We pressure-clean the surface and inspect it for cracks, low spots and failed coating. Cracks are cleaned out and filled, low areas are levelled so the court drains properly, and any loose or delaminating material is removed back to a sound base. Post sockets and their surrounds are checked at the same time, since they are a common point of cracking.
Resurfacing and coating
The court is coated in stages: filler and texture coats to seal the base and build an even, non-slip texture, then colour coats on the playing area and surrounds. Volleyball is often played on a multi-purpose court, so we plan the court colours and line colours together to keep each sport’s markings readable. We work with more than one surface coating system and recommend the one best suited to the court, how it is used and your budget.
Line marking
Volleyball courts are marked from measured points to the correct dimensions: the boundary lines, the centre line beneath the net, and the attack lines on each side. The post positions are set out in relation to the sidelines so the net sits correctly. Where volleyball lines are added to an existing tennis or netball court, they are painted in a distinct colour.
New volleyball court construction
For a new court we handle the full build: levelling and compacting the base, drainage falls, the playing slab, post sockets cast in the correct positions, fencing where required, and the surface system and line marking to finish. Building the sockets in from the start avoids cutting into a finished surface later.
Durability and playing performance
A professionally prepared and coated volleyball court gives reliable footing for jumping and landing, drains quickly after rain and holds its colour and markings for years. Routine sweeping and prompt attention to small cracks are all that is needed to keep it in good condition.
