Tennis Court Resurfacing & Construction

Resurfacing, crack repair, coloured coating and line marking for existing courts, or a new court built from the base up. Gauteng and nationwide.

Newly resurfaced blue and green hard-surface tennis court with crisp white lines, built by Real Tennis Court

What We Do

Resurfacing and new court construction, done properly from the base up.

Real Tennis Court resurfaces existing tennis courts and builds new ones for private homes, schools, clubs and estates across Gauteng and South Africa. Every project starts with the surface itself: thorough preparation, repair of cracks and low spots, a coloured sports surface coating applied in stages, and lines marked accurately to the correct court dimensions.

  • Full court inspection and honest advice on repair versus rebuild
  • Pressure cleaning, crack repair and levelling of low spots
  • Coloured surface coating, applied in stages for an even texture
  • Accurate line marking for singles and doubles play
  • New court construction from base preparation to finished surface
  • Durable, low-maintenance finish for private, school and club courts

What The Work Involves

When a tennis court needs resurfacing

Hard courts wear from the top down. The colour fades and chalks under the sun, the fine texture that provides grip wears smooth, and hairline cracks open as the base moves through wet and dry seasons. Standing water, faint lines and a slippery surface with bare patches all indicate the coating has reached the end of its life.

Resurfacing at this stage is far more economical than leaving the court until the base itself is damaged. Left too long, a coating problem becomes a base problem, and a resurfacing job becomes a rebuild.

Surface preparation and repairs

Preparation determines how long the new surface lasts. We pressure-clean the court to remove dirt, algae and loose material, then inspect the whole slab. Cracks are opened, cleaned and filled; low areas that hold water are levelled with patching compound; and any failed or delaminating coating is removed back to a sound surface.

On courts with significant structural cracking or drainage problems we give honest advice on the repair options, including where a new base is the better long-term investment.

Resurfacing and coating

Once the base is sound, the court is coated in stages. Filler and texture coats seal the surface and build a consistent, even texture across the whole court. Colour coats are then applied to the playing area and the surrounds. The texture is what gives the court its grip and controls ball speed, so each coat is applied evenly and allowed to cure properly before the next. We work with more than one surface coating system and recommend the one best suited to the court, how it is used and your budget.

Colours are chosen with you; the two-tone blue and green courts in our gallery are a popular combination.

Line marking

Lines are set out from measured points to the correct court dimensions and masked before painting, so the edges are clean and straight. Singles and doubles lines are marked as standard, and lines for netball, basketball or volleyball can be added in a second colour on a multi-use court.

New tennis court construction

For new courts we manage the full build: site assessment, earthworks and levelling, a properly compacted base with drainage falls, the playing slab, fencing and net posts, and finally the surface system and line marking. The same team takes the court from base to finish, which keeps the details that matter, such as falls, edges and joints, under one point of responsibility.

Durability and playing performance

A properly prepared and coated court gives consistent bounce and reliable footing, drains quickly after rain, and holds its colour for years with only basic maintenance: regular sweeping, clearing debris and standing water, and attending to small cracks early. We can advise on a simple maintenance routine once the work is complete.
